Western Herzliya, also called Herzliya-Pitu´ah, is located on the Mediterranean coast with a stretch of popular beachfront hotels, high-tech business area, busy trendy restaurants and an exclusive residential area housing the residence of the United States ambassador and many of Israel´s crème de la crème. Herzliya is one of the main tourist locations in Israel.
There are many beach entrances to choose from. Basically the Herzliya Pituach beach can be divided in a Southern (crowded) part and Northern (quite) part.
The Southern part of the beach is spotted with hotels and restaurants, During the summer you will have to purchase an entry ticket to get into these beaches. The Northern beach of Sidna Ali is free of charge, less crowded and in many ways nicer. From Sidna Ali you can even go up north a long the coast and reach the Apollonian ruins, remains of an ancient fortress along the cost.
